The 'effectiveness' that Y felt was actually temporary. Y advised X not to take the medicine. We do not need to know such crazy and complicated history of economy, to understand that before money was invented, we trade things to get things. We give out things to get things that we want. Thus, money was invented. And things became way easier. With money, we still trade things with things. But now it is more accurate, easy and ensure the equality of the value. No matter how people see you, there is no way for people to decide if you're good or bad. Only you know it by yourself.
