VCreator Startup Pitch Competition - UMS Finals

Image
Just when I thought I was done with it, a new notification pop into my phone... there's a VCreator competition just for the UMS students contestants! I had mixed feelings; somewhat touched & honored, happy, and a bit worried about what else to say, as I thought I've talked about everything that I already can. Oh, and of course, slightly curious; why suddenly there is a competition made only for UMS students? Apparently, it was quite a strategic collaboration, with the one major goal that UMS & VCreator have always in mind; to encourage students to become entrepreneurs. That particular special and enclosed competition was a gateway for them to sign LOI, ensuring students can start their own business with the support of grant from UMS itself. I'm grateful that on this particular small competition of about 10 contestants, I managed to get myself into the top 6. Definitely a small yet sweet victory. And alas, this extensive competition helped me re...

Ignite Entrepreneurship Camp by V Creator

Image
Alhamdulillah, I got a very amazing opportunity to participate in Ignite Entrepreneurship Camp on 6 to 8 December, as a part of me entering the V Creator Startup Pitch Competition. (I know, I updated a bit late. I was tired, okay? 😅) Honestly, growing with my parents who both loves running business so much, for more than 20 years, while also helping them with their business as long as I can remember, with them currently achieving stable income and satisfying financial freedom (from as much as I can perceive), I can safely say that, I actually don’t like business. Thus, it actually never cross my mind to be involved in entrepreneurship. Even with growing up with my parents who definitely guarantee their full support. Even after countless efforts of schools trying to instill entrepreneurship spirit in their students. Heck, even until I go into university, where university students in Malaysia are highly, highly, highly encouraged to be involved in entrepreneurship. For r...

Celebrating Autism Awareness Through Fashion by KK Fashion Week

Image
Alhamdulillah, on 14 September 2019 (yesterday), I was given the chance to be the emcee of the event of Celebrating Autism Awareness Through Fashion, at Wisma Tun Fuad Stephens, Kota Kinabalu. That event for surely has broaden my understanding about autism. I admit, it has been 3 years already of me studying child & family psychology, and I still struggle to grasp the basics of what autism actually is.  “Autism is a neuro-developmental disorder ( not neuro-cognitive!) that manifests itself in the following symptoms; saying things over & over (echolalia) , flapping hands, obsess with certain things, blah blah blah…” Yeah, I know that. 3 years of studying this; I already know this. But why? Why they are flapping their hands? Why they are saying things over & over? Why they are obsessed with certain things? I initially want to start by listing points of what I learned from this event. You know, like how I usually write about events that I’ve gone through. ...

Fundamentals & Basics of Interfaith by Global UNITY Network

Image
Tapi Alhamdulillah, Allah permudahkan, & semuanya berbaloi. 2 days were well spent. All the speakers elaborated their topics nicely, on the basics of us living & interacting with people from different faiths appropriately. Especially speaker Bro Shah Kirit. He’s… different. To the point that it reminds me of how I myself am different with my friends. And I see that how his differences turned him into a man with principles, not easily swayed, always asking questions, and never afraid of losing as what we’re ultimately looking for is not winning, but the truth. I like that. It’s comforting me, seeing how I have the potential to become just like him. As for the event. I can talk (well, technically, write) all that I’v...

How Are You? by Aiman Amri at ImanShoppe

Image
Alhamdulillah, hari ni aku berkesempatan untuk pergi ke acara ‘How Are You?’, sebuah pengisian oleh Aiman Amri a.k.a Aiman Psikologis, di ImanShoppe. Mula-mula masuk kedai tu, cuak jugak. Selama ni dah lama ikut dekat media sosial, dah lama ikut penulis-penulis dia, baru hari ni dapat datang ke kedai tu sendiri & jumpa seorang penulis dia. I was like: “Oooo inilah kedai buku yang popular tu.” 2 hours were well-spent. The talk is simple, really. But yet engaging & deepen my understanding more, even to me as a student learning psychology. Aku suka dengan cara penyampaian Aiman Amri; berisi tapi senang faham. Terutamanya untuk aku yang nak jadi speaker tapi suka guna perkataan-perkataan susah; aku pun muhasabah diri balik la tentang macam mana selama ini aku bercakap di khalayak ramai. Hahahaha. Jadi, aku dekat sini nak senaraikanlah 3 intipati yang setakat ni masih berdengung di telinga aku. 1. Analogi gergaji I really like this analogy. Memang balik rumah...
