"Damn these immigrants..."

huffingtonpost.com

Before anything else, we need to ask ourselves, why do people migrate?
Simply, because to live a better live.
Wherever that they had lived, thing were not going well for them, and they want, or they need to go to other places to live. It's essentially for survival.

Some maybe decide solely on choice. Like how we can see Malaysians choose to settle down in the overseas instead of going back and working in Malaysia. And how some of the Kpop groups have foreign idols as members, because they choose to move and make money in Korea.

Some maybe migrate due to hardships, like poverty. Sure, they can live if they stay, but the chance of upgrading their lives are significantly much higher if they migrate. So they choose to migrate.

Some maybe migrate because they really have no choice, like the refugees. They would die if they choose to stay. Which in this case, migrating is not a choice at all.

Their live difficulties may be vary, but they simply migrate to find a better life. It is as simple as that.

Now, what about the permanent citizen, or residents of the country, or the place?
How they should react?

Okay, firstly, the real truth is, no one is considered a permanent citizen or resident of a place. We are constantly moving around and going to different places to live our lives, to make our lives better.

So, even if you want to stay at the very same place from birth until die, you will not live, until you are actually out from that place. Whether to go out to the street in front of your home, or to the school which are worth 10 minutes of ride, or your hometown which may take 6 hours to get there, or to the neighbouring countries via passport, visa and a plane.

The only difference is they are going into a place with no intention of going back to where they supposely belong to. At least not in the current time.

So now, knowing all of these, let's debunk some of the popular sayings that we usually hear about immigrants.

1. They should go back to where they belong.

Let me ask you this first. Do you think they really wanted to migrate that bad?
Some had to leave their wives and kids.
Some had to leave their parents and siblings.
Some had been educated in universities, but they work as labors when they migrate.
Some had good reputations in their own place, but ending up being workers with low wages.

Migrating is hard. It's probably the last thing that they would want do. But they did, because of surviving.
They do want to go back where they belong, but like I said before, for a better life, they had to stay strong.

2. They come into the country with agendas.

The closest example that I can give is: All Muslims come to America to make terrorism.
Sounds absolutely stupid, right?

Then why do we think that all the Nigerians come to Malaysia to make 'love scams' to our local girls?
Why do we think that all the Vietnamese are piling up crimes in Malaysia on purpose?
Why do we think that all the Bangladeshis are here to steal our jobs?

This is generalization. A nonsense and inappropriate one.

3. They come into the country to steal our jobs, and take over the country.

"Damn these Bangladeshis."

Hold up.
Personally, I am most excited to explain this part.

Hard times will create strong men.
Strong men will create good times.
Good times will create weak men.
Weak men will create hard times.

Like I said before, migrating is hard. They went through hardships. And through that hardships, they had grown to become strong men.
So, when they finally have a place called home, and a financial-making routine called job, they will work hard. Like, really, really hard.

So, how can you survive, or in this context, maintain you job, if you yourself are not even hardworking enough? Let's face the fact that (generally) the immigrants are much more hardworking than our current youths.
If we look at history of Malaysia, after independence, the indigenous race gets all the privileges like educational access, the right to own a land and others.
It is reasonable at that time, I mean after independence.
But what happen now?

The generations after them are being raised with privileges (a.k.a good times) that they do not have to fight for.
So they become weak men.

I think, even if these immigrants one day, do take over our country, they would implement the same privileges to their next generations. And then the whole cycle would just repeat again.

So, no one will actually steal your job if actually do well. Unless you yourself are a spoiled rich brat who complains and blames everything to others, like the government and others, you should not be worried at all.

(I am not saying that 'government and others' have no mistakes. I am just focusing on how we as an individual should do well in our job. So logically, if you are good in your job, no one will purposely make you lose your job and give it to others)

4. They are burdens to the country.

If you are the spoiled rich brat, you are the one who are burdening the country.

Like I mentioned before, immigrants work really, really hard.
Since they worked in our country, the country would also gain benefit from it.
It is a win-win situation for both parties actually.

But of course, the government wishes more for its current citizen to work hard, since it is their birth land and the place that they called home since birth..

So, what are you waiting for?
What are WE waiting for?

If we do love and embrace our country,
If we are truly grateful for all of the hard work that our ancestors had done for us,
we should work our very best to contribute to the country.
We as citizens should run the country proudly and put our best efforts into it.

Stop the attitude of blaming others.
Stop claiming all sorts of stuff, but refuse to work more

And also...
Stop judging people.
Stop generalizing people.

There are bad guys out there, for sure.
But there will always be good guys too. And usually there are more of them.

At the end, we are all just humans, trying to live life.
